Why only, or mainly, in Sienna? Not anywhere like as prevalent anywhere else I've been in Italy (Rome, Florence, Pisa, Lucca)....seemed to be in keeping with the inward, fractious, grasping nature of the place. Beautiful, certainly, stunning, even, but with a dark heart.
